Incumbents Jordana Sobey and Ryan Winter are running unopposed to retain their seats on the Sag Harbor Board of Education. No challengers had filed nominating petitions to create a contested race when the deadline passed at 5 p.m. on April 22. Sobey, the board’s current vice president, will be seeking her third three-year term. She first joined the board in 2018 with former member Susan Schaefer in what was another uncontested race. In her most recent budget presentation at the Sag Harbor Board of Education meeting on Monday night, District Business Administrator Jen Buscemi shared information on the budgets for the technology, BOCES and pupil personnel services departments. She started her presentation by letting the board and those in attendance know that the state, for the second time, had extended its own budget deadline, to April 8, meaning the district was still waiting to find out if any state aid would be restored.
