Sometimes we’re ready to throw in the towel and quit adulthood. Being a kid was soooo much more fun. No bills to pay. No broken down cars to fix. No caffeine addictions so that when the coffee runs out in the morning and there’s no backup bag, you don’t want to give up on life. (Can you tell that we’ve had it with this week?) From having personal chefs (mom & dad) that make you every meal to getting summers off, kids have it made. Even their bedrooms are cool. So, we’re taking a break and regressing for a few to imagine a carefree life in these kids’ rooms.

1. Nautical in East Quogue, $22.95 Million

Ahoy, matey! With these nautical-esque bunk beds and what feels like a pilot’s station, we’d be all about this room. Just call us Captain. Also, having slept in a bunk bed for most of our childhood, we can unequivocally say it’s pretty sweet. But TWO back-to-back bunk beds? Say hello to hella slumber parties! Not for nothing, but this house also overlooks the beach, thus cementing our favorite seafaring theme.

2. Southampton Pink, $1.475 Million

Gah! Would you look at all this pink?! It’s not that we’re fans of this particular Pepto-Bismol-ish color, but we do love how bright and cheerful it is. Adult rooms are like “I’m An Adult Gray,” or “This Is Boring But Easy White.” This room, however, is like a cartoon explosion. Plus, there’s toys galore, colorful books and an itty, bitty club chair in which to read them. We’d be lost in our imaginations for hours. We’d also probably tear down those curtains, because that’s too much pink.

3. Easy In East Hampton, $1.295 Million

OK, so this is clearly for the younger lot, but hey, being a baby is even better than being a kid, because EVERYTHING has to be done for you. Basically, we want to Benjamin Button ourselves today. Anyway, we kind of like the inherent calm that seems to come with this room. Sure, it’s simple, but it’s also kind of charming. Particularly the combo of the crib and the basketball hoop. Like, who’s that hoop for exactly? Because there’s not enough space for adults to use it, and it’s presumably rather difficult for infants. We’re going to let that one sit and marinate.

4. Polka Dots in Water Mill, $2.995 Million

It’s another pink room! Albeit a bit more muted and mature than the last. That bed looks perfect to jump on, trampoline style. Or, better yet, it would be perfect to take a running start and leap onto, all Superman-like. Not that we used to do those things on the regular. Just thinking out loud here. There’s something else we really love about this room and it’s that adorable, long-necked, polka-dotted horse chair. We want it. For our house. Now. Sure, we might break it with one simple sit. But we don’t care. We want that chair. Give us that chair. Nowwwww. [Stomps foot.]

5. Family Room in Westhampton Beach, $1.15 Million

We’re going to end on this playful family room. True, it’s not a children’s bedroom, but we like that the fun isn’t relegated to just one non-adult space. Here, parents can also Hopscotch with abandon or pull out what appears to be one of the many board games and toys. Also, note there’s no TV in this room, which is pretty cool. We’re not anti-TV by any stretch, but this room is clearly designed to encourage imagination and bring the family together for some quality time. Of that, we are fans. Now, who knows how to double Dutch?
