The Sag Harbor Community Food Pantry has launched a new website at sagharborfoodpantry.org. The site is designed to improve communication with Sag Harbor families seeking food assistance, as well as with donors wishing to contribute financially or through food donations.
The pantry currently serves approximately 100 families — more than 400 individuals — each week, year-round. It operates on Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to noon at the Old Whalers’ Church.
As the fall and winter months approach, the pantry anticipates increased demand for assistance, particularly in light of the federal government shutdown and the upcoming cessation of SNAP benefits. According to a press release, the pantry has already seen a reduction in food donations earlier this year from Long Island food banks supported by federal funding.
