Sag Harbor Mayor-Elect Thomas Gardella, who will be sworn in on Monday, said he would appoint Jeanne Kane, who is currently the chairwoman of the Sag Harbor Village Zoning Board of Appeals, to complete the year remaining on his trustee term.
Kane, and newly reelected Trustees Aidan Corish and Bob Plumb, will also be sworn in when the Village Board holds its organizational meeting at noon on Monday at the Municipal Building on Main Street.
Gardella will have to appoint a replacement for Kane on the ZBA, which is already operating one member short, with alternate member Joseph Fisher sitting in for the past year.
On Tuesday, Gardella said he was also looking for a replacement for Treasurer Tim Bullock, who moved out of state earlier this year and has continued to work for the village on a part-time basis, pending the hiring of his replacement.
Kane grew up outside Philadelphia, and worked for many years on Wall Street. She and her husband, Paul Zaykowski, moved permanently to Sag Harbor in 2017. Outgoing Mayor Jim Larocca appointed her as the chairwoman of the Board of Historic Preservation and Architectural Review in 2021, and then appointed her chairwoman of the ZBA last year.
“I look forward to working with Tom and the current board,” Kane said. “Hopefully, we can settle some things that have gotten a bit off track.”
She said she agreed with Gardella’s stated priorities of providing affordable housing and protecting water quality. She said she would serve as the liaison to the Building Department and the village’s regulatory boards.
Trustee Peter Boody will be sworn in for his first full term and incumbent Trustee Terie Diat for her second term when the North Haven Village Board holds its organizational meeting at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, July 5, at Village Hall in North Haven.
The board canceled its regularly monthly meeting scheduled for June 21 and will instead hold it at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, immediately following the organizational meeting.
