Respect The Rules

Thank you to The Express News Group for hosting the debate with the North Haven mayoral candidates on June 7. It showed that there are big differences between the candidates. It also highlighted that I am the candidate both with a strong record of accomplishments and a respect for rules.

My presence on the board for the past 22 months has brought much needed gender and generational diversity, energy, and diversity of perspective and experience, all of which have helped to strengthen the discussions and decisions made by the board.

As mayor, I will continue to bring strategic, forward-looking, thoughtful leadership to the board and the Village of North Haven.

When I was running for trustee two years ago, I said I felt it was important to improve communication, open discussion and transparency between the board and the community. I also said I felt it was very important to listen and get as much input as possible from residents and to address the concerns of the community.

I have delivered on all of those promises and more. My website and campaign materials elaborate on my long list of results, so I won’t spend a lot of time here, but I did what I said I would do.

I care deeply about North Haven and preserving and protecting the natural beauty and resources of our village. I have lived here for 30 years; my husband has lived here his entire life. I will always prioritize opportunities to preserve open land. I am leading a new committee to proactively pursue clean water initiatives for our creeks, bays, ponds and wetlands. You can count on me to deliver on these commitments and beyond.

I have attended every regulatory board meeting over the past two years. No other candidate can say this. I am actively involved in all aspects of how our government works and will continue to seek opportunities to improve and modernize our processes and procedures to make the village easier to do business with.

My 37-year career in finance as a senior executive with Colgate-Palmolive gives me the experience to be able to do this well, and to provide strong oversight to the village’s $2 million budget.

As the voters of North Haven make their decision for mayor, the remaining consideration must be the character of the future leader of our village. I will lead our village with honesty, integrity and professionalism. I know the rules. I respect the rules. I abide by the rules. This makes me the best choice for mayor of North Haven.

It would be an honor to serve you as mayor. Please consider me for your vote on Tuesday, June 21, at North Haven Village Hall.
