SAG HARBOR VILLAGE — On the morning of May 28 and again on Friday morning, police were sent to Glover Street after a caller complained that there was a car that apparently had been abandoned there. Police checked the car’s registration on May 28 and found that it was active. A traffic control officer chalk-marked a tire to ensure that the car was in fact being used. SAG HARBOR VILLAGE — A Main Street apartment dweller called Village Police at about 6 a.m. on Saturday, concerned because she could hear a woman screaming from a neighboring apartment and banging on the walls. Police went to investigate, first visiting the caller’s apartment where, in fact, they could hear a woman screaming. They gained access to the adjoining apartment and discovered two women locked in a bathroom, because the lever on the door had broken. Officers were able to unlock the door and free the women. SAG HARBOR VILLAGE — Village Police learned May 6 that a wood bench on Main Street had been defaced by a vandal who carved a 4-inch-long swastika into the wood. The bench was sanded, and the swastika was removed. Police are investigating. SAG HARBOR VILLAGE — Alexander W. Meyer, 50, a Meredith Avenue homeowner, was arrested by Sag Harbor Village Police last Thursday afternoon on an unlawful eviction charge, a misdemeanor. According to the complaint, the female tenant of an apartment located in a private house on Meredith Avenue had returned home that day, after being away for a few days, only to find many of her belongings boxed up and outside the house. SAG HARBOR VILLAGE — A woman reported to Village Police on April 22 that three days earlier, on April 19, when she was shopping at a Main Street store, she had placed her red leather Louis Vuitton rectangular purse down as she was looking at some merchandise. The purse, the woman told police, had her initials embroidered on it, and was valued at $1,000. The woman said she also had $120 inside the purse.
