An officer went to investigate and reported hearing the crying but could not gain access to the building. A few minutes later, police received another call again reporting the crying sound. SAG HARBOR VILLAGE — Police received a report Sunday afternoon of a suspicious man peering in the windows at the elementary school on Hampton Street. An officer went to investigate and walked around the building. The officer located the man in question, who, it turned out, works for a security firm hired by the school. The man told the officer he was checking to make sure that all windows and doors were secure. SAG HARBOR VILLAGE — An attempt was made to defraud the art center on Madison Street known as The Church. The organization was working on a transaction that involved $15,000 when someone attempted to defraud it by intercepting the transaction and directing it toward a bank account different from where it was supposed to go to.
