My mom, Barbara Wilson, is a candidate for reelection, and I hope she will be your choice for town justice.
She has far more courtroom and general legal experience than her opponents, and no one can argue that her 24 years working as our town judge are unmatched. But the qualifications that truly distinguish my mom as a leader can’t be measured by law degrees and party endorsements — it is her character.
Growing up, I thought my mom was a celebrity. We couldn’t just dash into the grocery store — she knew everyone, talked to anyone, never refusing to lend a hand or a listening ear. As a kid, I didn’t understand just how much she was doing, but as an adult, I understand she was, and still is, doing it all for the community.
My mom knows her position is not just a job. She touches lives, and hopes to actually help the people who come before her. She knows she is responsible for decisions that are extremely delicate, and approaches each one with deep consideration for all parties involved.
Being a judge is not a simple task; it is constantly challenging, requiring a great deal of respect from all parties in all directions. In signing warrants, reading petitions or reviewing restraining orders, there are real people involved who deserve real solutions and honest care.
I know my mom cares deeply about everyone, on all sides of an issue, and strives for resolution. I have so many memories of my mom coming home from work, still working, trying to find alternatives, thinking about more beneficial and rehabilitating services, and going completely above and beyond the call of duty to change lives for the better. She holds herself to a high standard, and genuinely appreciates every opportunity she has to support another person.
My mom absolutely loves serving the community.
