Alan R. Matson, Formerly Of Eastport, Dies April 19

Alan R. Matson, originally from Eastport, and recently from Greenville, South Carolina, died on April 19 at UHS–Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City, New York, after an extended illness. He was 58.

Mr. Matson was the son of the late Onni and Betty Matson of Eastport.

He was a graduate of Eastport High School and Suffolk County Community College. While living in Eastport, he was a member of the volunteer Eastport Fire Department. He was last employed by Sanmina in Binghamton.

He is survived by two sisters, Jean Matson of Schenectady, and Kim Post of Ohio; and a nephew, Michael Post of Ohio. He is also survived by uncles and aunts, numerous cousins and a grandniece and grandnephews.

At Mr. Matson’s request, no services were held. His ashes will be placed in Paris Mountain State Park in Greenville, where he often hiked and camped.

William Campos Lopez, 26, of Speonk was arrested on December 8, at 3:40 a.m., by Quogue Village Police charged him with aggravated DWI, a misdemeanor. WESTHAMPTON BEACH — On December 4, a person reported receiving a suspicious postcard at the Westhampton Beach Post Office. The person stated to Westhampton Beach Village Police that the postcard had disturbing and false information regarding a finch bird.
