Albert Raymond Holden Jr.
Albert Raymond Holden Jr. of Sag Harbor died October 7, 2019. He was 82. Born December 15, 1936, in New York City to Albert Sr. and Margaret (Parant), who predeceased him, he was known to his siblings and childhood friends as “Butch.” A 1955 graduate of Pierson High School, he served two years in the U.S. Army, stationed in Berlin, Germany, for one of those years.
When he returned to Sag Harbor he started his 37-year career with LILCO. In 1964 he married Kathy (Scherger).
From childhood through his move to Florida, he had homing pigeons. He would take them on his travels and watch for them to come home.
After retiring to Florida, he and his wife cruised all around the world. When they weren’t traveling and enjoying their children and grandchildren, they were playing golf, a hobby highlighted by Mr. Holden’s two holes-in-one.
In addition to his wife of 55 years, Kathy, he is survived by a sister, Jane; brothers, Charles (Susan), Bert (Semi) and Jeffery (Lisa); a daughter, Karen; sons, Jim (JJ) and Bill (Becky); and grandchildren, Chad, Ashleigh, Justin, Ryan, Shane, Brittany, Rory and Arwen.
He was also predeceased by his sister, Claire Wagner.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 26, at 11 a.m. at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park in Clearwater, Florida.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
