Ann Marie Arancio
Ann Marie (Mulcahy) Arancio of Sag Harbor died on April 22 at Stony Brook University Hospital Medical Center. She was 81.
She was born at home in Astoria on July 26, 1931, to John Joseph Mulcahy and Mary “Molly” O’Keefe. She graduated from Bryant High School in Queens and later married the love of her life, James Arancio, and they had 57 years together. They moved to Sag Harbor in 1996, where she made numerous friends, many of whom remember her generous spirit and compassion. She used to describe her life with her husband as one long fishing trip because some of their first dates were fishing trips. They loved to fish during their extensive travels, including a trip last October to Australia, New Zealand and Fiji. Every year, she took her children and grandchildren on a trip because she loved being surrounded by her family.
She was a member of the Irish American Society, the East Hampton Power Squadron and a volunteer for the Dominican Sisters Family Health Service.
Ms. Arancio is survived by two children, Patricia Arancio Remkus of Sag Harbor and James E. Arancio of Smithtown; five grandchildren, Joseph and Michael Remkus of Sag Harbor, and Victoria, Genevieve and Giovanna Arancio of Smithtown.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Yardley and Pino Funeral Home in Sag Harbor.
