Anne Shelley Gertz of Hampton Bays died on March 24. She was 91.
She was born on December 27, 1931, in Altoona, Pennsylvania, to Marion and Victor Bloomfield. She resided in Greenwich Village and Brooklyn before moving to Hampton Bays in 1992 with her beloved husband, Paul Gertz, who predeceased her in January 2023, at the age of 97.
A Penn State graduate, she earned an MSW at Hunter College in 1985. During what she herself termed a great life, she was a psychotherapist, a published writer, an actor, an avid bridge player, and an active member of the Hampton Bays community for many years.
She is survived by her sister, Maggie Bloomfield Gari, of Westhampton Beach; and three grandchildren, Josia, Sag and Zion. She leaves behind the memory of her beloved cat, Daisy.
A wake and celebration of her life will be held at the Scott-Rothwell Funeral Home in Hampton Bays on Friday, May 5, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will take place at the funeral home on Saturday, May 6, at 10 a.m. A private burial of cremains will follow services at Good Ground Cemetery.
