In my three years as village trustee, strong progress has been made on many issues: improving the environment, water quality, increased public safety, quality of life and responsible budget management. Even with our strong momentum, there is a far way to go.
Last year, I ran for reelection with Bill Manger. He has exceeded my expectations as a fellow trustee, providing mature, thoughtful leadership amid controversy and conflict, and never losing sight of our shared goal: an improved village.
We need a mayor who brings people together, a leader who understands and celebrates what is good and unique about Southampton Village. Therefore, I am proud to endorse Bill Manger for mayor.
With Roy Stevenson, Bill successfully negotiated the new three-year contract with the fire district. He and I implemented a monthly communication plan with the land use boards and Building Department to ensure things run smoothly. We worked with our village administrator to be sure operations are streamlined and efficient.
In 2021, prior to his election, Bill took over the development helm of the new master plan. As trustee, he continues to implement its recommendations, including the new resident-requested bike lanes. He worked with Trustee Robin Brown to celebrate our seniors through a recognized committee, organized events and a direct contact in Village Hall.
Finally, by listening and engaging, Bill earned the trust and respect of village employees. He hears residents’ concerns, and balances the voice of our employees to seek win-win solutions.
Bill Manger will not shy away from challenges and will be the mature, stable and visionary mayor that Southampton Village deserves at this critical juncture.
Trustees Roy Stevenson and Robin Brown have been steadfast, reliable and caring stewards and colleagues for our village. As safety liaison, Robin worked with the Southampton Village Police Department to acquire drones for shark sightings, beach safety and to modify traffic conditions. She worked with the Police Department and its benevolent association to fund the free bike helmet and safety gear for children program. Roy, as part of the sewer district task force, is working tirelessly toward implementing a new waste management system, and he rebuilt bridges with our emergency service departments. I wholeheartedly endorse both for reelection.
Your vote is about leadership, progress and unity of purpose. On June 16, vote to elect Bill Manger as mayor and reelect Robin Brown and Roy Stevenson as your trustees. The team that will make us all — residents, employees and government — better together.
