Brian Alexander Gutierrez-Arteaga
Brian Alexander Gutierrez-Arteaga died on Sunday, October 14, at Stony Brook Hospital, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident involving a deer on Red Creek Road in Hampton Bays on October 12. He was 20.
He was born on August 11, 1992, at Southampton Hospital to Marisa Arteaga-Moreno and Cesar Alejandro Gutierrez-Gonzalez. He attended several schools in his youth, having lived in Southampton, Springs, and Sag Harbor.
He graduated from high school and began studying to be a medical assistant in Colorado. He also paid special attention to Bible study and followed in that course when he came to live with Anthony Rosalia in Southampton, where he lived as a son for the last 10 years of his life. He celebrated the most important day of his life in August 2009 by symbolizing his dedication to Jehovah by baptism.
Mr. Gutierrez-Arteaga was an unusual boy in that he had so many interests he took very seriously, including languages, music, soccer, travel, Bible study, snowboarding, painting and drawing, according to loved ones, but the most common word that everyone used to describe him was “gentleman.”
He is survived by his mother and father, Marisa and Cesar; his grandmother, Carmen; his sister, Surisaddai, and her daughter, Quetzali; his many cousins, aunts and uncles, locally and in Mexico, and his friends from all over the world.
A funeral service was held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Water Mill on Tuesday, October 16. More than 870 attended the service.
