Bruce A. Peterson of Southampton died April 30, after a one-year battle with cancer, surrounded by his wife and three daughters. He was 64.
Mr. Peterson was born March 18, 1950, in Syracuse. He later moved to Plainview, and then to Northport, where he graduated from high school in 1968.
He met his wife, Sheila, who survives him, in 1964 and they married on September 19, 1970. They moved to Southampton in 1972 and raised their three daughters
in a home that Mr. Peterson built with a little help from his friends.
Mr. Peterson started his own irrigation company in 1984. He was an active member of the Southampton Kiwanis Club and Southampton Golf Club.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and, most of all, helping his friends and family.
He was predeceased by his parents, Alma Veith and John Peterson. He is survived by his three daughters, Sharon Schreiber and husband Tommy, Tracey Mackie and husband Sean, and Kelley Zorko and husband Chris; seven grandchildren, Amanda, Thomas, Madison, Reilly, Bryce, Keira and Caitlin; and his brother, Dean Peterson of Massachusetts.
A wake was held Thursday and Friday at Brockett Funeral Home in Southampton. A funeral Mass was held Saturday at the Basilica Parish of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Roman Catholic Church in Southampton.
