Carolyn E. “Carrie” Brown of Southampton died June 24, 2019, at Stony Brook Southampton Hospital. She was 94.
Born in Southampton to William and Mary Esther Seely on September 1, 1924, she attended Southampton High School. She worked as a secretary for the Colonial for 10 years before starting a family.
She was an artist, very creative in all she did, loved the ocean at Little Plains Beach and loved to read. She was a good fisherman, excellent bowler, loved her flower gardens and was a homemaker.
She was baptized in the church and was a member of the church choir for more than 50 years.
Mrs. Brown is survived by her husband of 71 years, Charles; her children and their spouses, Cheryl and Tony Sclafani, Charles and Gitta Brown, Christine Brown, Colin and Susan Brown; her grandchildren, Kelly and Christopher Goetzfried, Colin Philip Brown; and her siblings, Mildred Nolan, Joan Cannon and William Seely Jr. She is also survived by her in-laws, Doris Hoover, William and Beverly Brown; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by sisters, Mary Curry, Catherine McClain, Patricia Geoghegan; and in-laws, Charlotte and William Flynn, Roberta and Richard Hovick, and The Reverend Richard Hoover.
A funeral Mass was held on July 1 at the Basilica Parish of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary in Southampton. Burial followed at Calverton National Cemetery.
