Carolyn Griffing
Carolyn Christine Griffing of East Quogue died at St. Catherine of Siena Medical Center in Smithtown on Wednesday, January 11. She was 72.
Born to Claire and Francis Widmeyer in Queens on December 27, 1939, “Chris” as her friends and family called her, married Harvey Griffing on December 31, 1958. She was member of the Red Hat Society, an avid bowler, had crocheted everything from outfits to curtains, and always followed the teachings of Jesus, family said.
She is survived by her husband, Harvey; children, Kelly A. Griffing of East Quogue, William F. Griffing of Hampton Bays, Robert Griffing and his wife Claudia of Eastport; granddaughter, Anika Griffing of Eastport; siblings, Frances Bennett and Joseph Widmeyer of North Carolina.
The family received friends at the Follett & Werner Funeral Home on Sunday, January 15. A funeral service was held at the funeral home on Monday, January 16; Father Joseph Mirro officiated.
