Caution Is Needed

Normally, I would welcome more employment at Gabreski Airport, and I had a favorable reaction to Amazon’s plan to build a facility at the airport for their distribution purposes. However, on further inspection, I feel that caution is needed.

I was disturbed when I read that when asked if Google might wish to expand its original plan to include airfreight flights, the reply was, “Not at this time.” Mark Schulte is quite correct to raise the issues in his recent letters. What guarantees are there to present an expansion of operations once Amazon is established at the airport? Are we being offered a Trojan Horse, all for 50 jobs?

Caution, please, elected officials. Pay attention to the fine print if an initial deal is reached.
