Charles L. Wouters of Hampton Bays died July 16 at Southampton Hospital. He was 81.
Mr. Wouters was a retired driver for the Suffolk County Highway Department, based at a garage in Hampton Bays, and a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Predeceased by his wife, Jean “Diddy” (Kozwoski) Wouters, he is survived by four children, Sharon Abbondondelo of East Quogue, Debra Armentano of Florida, Charles L. Wouters Jr. of East Quogue and Laurie Conforti of Riverhead; 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, George Wouters of Patchogue. Three brothers, Fred, Leonard and Ray Wouters, predeceased him.
Mr. Wouters was an exempt member of the Hampton Bays Fire Department and fire department services were held on July 22 at 7:30 p.m. at the J. Ronald Scott Funeral Home in Hampton Bays, followed by a prayer service by clergy of the Church of St. Rosalie. Both his ashes and those of his wife will be entombed at Calverton National Cemetery at a later date.
