Charles Lokaj of Speonk died in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on June 18. He was 87.
Mr. Lokaj was born in Lublin, Poland, on January 13, 1926. He emigrated to the United States in 1948. He worked many years for the Village of Southampton and Riverhead Cement Block. He was an usher at St. John the Evangelist Church in Center Moriches for 60 years, and was a member and past president of the Riverhead Polish Independence Club.
Mr. Lokaj is survived by his two sons, Stan Lokaj and wife Colleen of Albuquerque, and Henry Lokaj of Speonk; five grandchildren, Ryan Lokaj of Colorado, Patrick Lokaj of Port Jefferson, Angielique Moss and husband Nathan of Maryland, Danielle Lokaj of Pennsylvania, and Rachel Lokaj of Ohio. He is also survived by a great-grandson, Nathan Moss Jr. Mr. Lokaj was predeceased by his wife, Veronica (née Najdzion), in 1995.
The family received friends at the Follett and Werner Funeral Home in Westhampton Beach on Monday, June 24, with a prayer service that evening. A funeral Mass was observed on Tuesday, June 25, at St. John the Evangelist Church in Center Moriches. Interment will take place at Mount Pleasant in Center Moriches.
