Rogelio Aparicio Martinez, 30, of Southampton was charged with DWI, a misdemeanor, just after midnight on December 1. His car was stopped on North Sea Mecox Road for swerving and failing to stay in the lane, Southampton Town Police said. He had a strong odor of alcohol on his breath and on his person, and performed poorly on field sobriety tests, according to the arrest report. by Staff Writer
HAMPTON BAYS—Southampton Town Police were alerted to a stabbing in the Good Ground Cemetery on November 26 just before 6 p.m. The responding officer found the victim, an area resident, emerging from the woods of the cemetery grounds bleeding from his neck and head area. The victim told police he was in a scuffle with an unknown assailant and, during the scuffle, was stabbed. Members of Sag Harbor’s Civil Service Union and eight additional employees will receive annual base pay hikes plus 3 percent raises for three years of a new five-year agreement that the Village Board approved on Tuesday. For two of those years, salaries will rise by 3 percent but without the base-pay hike. The union previously had approved the proposed agreement in an 18-1 vote, Mayor Kathleen Mulcahy said at a brief special meeting of the Village Board on Monday, when it voted unanimously to approve the pact. The Southampton Town Trustees on Monday voted unanimously to open an additional 1,700 feet of beach for people to drive on during the summer — at the north end of Cold Spring Road in Shinnecock Hills. According to a resolution, beach driving and parking was allowed on the beach at Cold Spring Road for 300 feet to the east of the drive-on point. Now, beach driving has been extended so that people can drive 2,000 feet east of the beach access at all hours during the summer.
