Southampton Town Councilwoman Julie Lofstad, along with the Veterans Affairs Committee, initiated a program that entitles every active military member or veteran to a free discount card to be used at participating local merchants within the Town of Southampton. Councilwoman Lofstad, town board members, members of the Veteran Affairs Committee and local, active military members and veterans met at Hampton Coffee, a participating business, in Westhampton Beach on May 18 to launch the program. Southampton Village Mayor Jesse Warren, Express News Group Executive Editor Joseph Shaw, Southampton Town Trustee Ann Welker, Dieter von Lehsten of the Southampton Town Sustainable Committee and Dr. Chris Gobler from Stony Brook’s School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences were panelists at an Environmental Policy Forum held at the Southampton Arts Center on Saturday, May 22.
Georgia Webb, a student at Sag Harbor’s Epic Martial Arts, pictures with Wendy, a volunteer with Lucia’s Angels. Georgia has raised over $4,700 for Lucia’s Angels through a “Give Cancer the Boot” fundraiser held at Provisions and Epic Martial Arts in Sag Harbor and through private donations. Students at Epic Martial Arts complete community service projects as a part of their martial arts training.
Students will wash cars at the Bridgehampton Child Care and Recreation Center on Saturday as a part of a "Start of Summer CARe Wash" to support the nonprofit.
