Constance L. (Kyte) Downs, formerly of East Quogue, died on March 10, after her long battle with dementia. She was 89.
She was born on April 2, 1933 in Montclair, New Jersey.
She graduated from George School, in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, and Endicott Junior College, in Beverly, Massachusetts.
She married James E. Downs Sr, in 1953, and they lived in East Quogue until 2000, when they moved to the Tuscawilla area in Winter Springs, Florida. They worked together at Quogue Fuel Company until they retired in 1998.
She loved to travel, taking three cross country trips, and visited all 50 states, as well as many parts of Europe. She was an avid golfer and Lifetime Member at the Tuscawilla Country Club.
She was predeceased by her parents, James M. Kyte and Lucile G Kyte; her two brothers, James and Bruce Kyte. She is survived by her husband of 70 years, James E. Downs Sr.; three children, Leslie and Michael Lynch, Jed and Lisa Downs, Peter and Dona Downs; nine grandchildren, Alex and Shannon Downs, Kathleen (Lynch) and Andrew Hefter, Lauren Downs, Elizabeth Lynch, Andrew Downs, Jesse Downs, Kendall Downs, Mackenzie Lynch and Jordan Downs. Family was truly her most cherished treasure, her family said, and she will be greatly missed by all.
A family service will be held at the Queen of Angels Cemetery in Winter Park.
