David Lloyd Jones of Southampton dies at 87

David Lloyd Jones of Southampton, New York City, and Palm Beach, Florida, died on January 1, from complications of Parkinson’s disease. He was 87.

Born in Chicago to Homer D. Jones and Jessie (née Whaley) Jones, he graduated from the Choate School in Conneciticut, Washington and Lee University in Virginia, and Harvard Business School in Massachusetts.

He worked for the international management consulting firm of McKinsey and Co. in New York City, and held several executive positions with Pepsi Cola before organizing Lloyd’s Unlimited, a marketing consulting firm.

He was a member of the Union Club, the New York Yacht Club, the Southampton Bathing Corporation and the Meadow Club. In Florida, he was a member of the Beach Club, the Old Guard, the Preservation Foundation and the Society of the Four Arts.

He served on the boards of the United Service Organization and Young Men’s Christian Association in New York. He was also chairman of the Peace Corps and on the board of the President’s Committee for the Employment of the Handicapped.

He is survived by his wife, Hildegard Jones; two daughters, Lee Allen and Marion Piro; and four grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Neptune Society Funeral Home in Florida. A memorial service was held on January 14 at the Episcopal Church of Bethesda-by-the-Sea in Florida.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Episcopal Church of Bethesda-by-the-Sea, 141 S. County Road, Palm Beach, FL 33480 would be appreciated by the family.
