Demitri Quintrel Hampton
Demitri Quintrel Hampton of Flanders died at his home on January 27. He was 21.
Born on September 20, 1991, in Southampton to Juanita Trent and raised by Theodore Trent, he attended Bridgehampton School before the family moved to Riverhead. At his new school, he played basketball and football and enjoyed writing and reading poetry. After graduating from Riverhead High School, he studied criminal justice at Suffolk Community College’s Eastern Campus. At the college, he held the prestigious position of senator on the board of Black Male Network. He would have graduated this May.
As a young child, Mr. Hampton attended the First Church of God in Christ in Bridgehampton where he was a member of the Sunshine Band and sang in the junior choir. Mr. Hampton was predeceased by his grandfather, Thomas “Pop” Hampton, and grandmother, Eunice Hampton. He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Juanita and Theodore Trent; brothers, Jamal S. Davis of Riverhead, Theodore “Munchie” Fioto and wife Jessica of Florida, Anthony Trent of Florida; sisters, Jennifer N. Davis of Flanders and Shannon Craft and her husband Cortney of Washington, D.C.; a niece, Lejourneé “Lee Lee” Roberts; a nephew, Dominick Walker; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He is also survived by his companion, Frances Acevedo; and friend, Jason Simms.
A funeral service took place on Saturday at the Galilee Church of God in Christ in Riverside; Pastor Roy L. Pennon Sr. officiated and Assistant Pastor Byron L. Preston delivered the eulogy. Interment followed at Southampton Cemetery. Pallbearers were Nicholas Gettling, Terry Brown, Theodore Fioto, Kenny Rivero, Joe Schebler and Andrew Bentson. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Brockett Funeral Home in Southampton.
