Hampton Bays National Guard Soldier Earns New Rank

Major General Ray Shields, the adjutant general for the State of New York, announced the recent promotion of Steven Delgadogarzon from Hampton Bays, a member of the New York Army National Guard in recognition of his capability for additional responsibility and leadership. Delgadorgarzon is assigned to the Company H, 427th Brigade Support Battalion and received a promotion on March 8 to the rank of sergeant. The Bliss Morehead Grant Committee has named the winners of the third annual Bliss Morehead Poetry Grant competition. The theme for 2024 was “Hope and Grace”. The winner is Emily O’Reilly of Montauk for her poem “Legacy.” O’Reilly will be awarded the Bliss Morehead Grant of $1,000 on Friday, April 26, at the Shelter Island Public Library Poetry Project Program.
