Eileen Bechtel Of Hampton Bays Dies September 15

Eileen A. Bechtel

Eileen A. Bechtel, a resident of Hampton Bays since 1961, died on September 15 after a long battle with cancer. She was 70.

She was predeceased by her husband, Henry; and a son, Michael Dawes. She is survived by two children, David Dawes of Hampton Bays and Betty Ann O’Gara and her husband Thomas of Hampton Bays; four grandchildren, Layci Dawes and Katherine, Erin and Liam O’Gara.

Visiting hours at the J. Ronald Scott Funeral Home will be on Sunday, September 23, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Pastor John Kenreich will officiate at a funeral service at 3 p.m. that day. Interment will follow at Good Ground Cemetery on Monday, September 24.

Memorial donations may be made to Brookhaven Hospice, 105 W. Main Street, Patchogue, NY 11772.

Southampton DWI Arrests for the Week of December 12

William Campos Lopez, 26, of Speonk was arrested on December 8, at 3:40 a.m., by Quogue Village Police charged him with aggravated DWI, a misdemeanor. He was pulled over after being observed speeding and failing to maintain his lane on Montauk Highway, police said.
