Elizabeth “Betty” Zarro
Elizabeth “Betty” Zarro of Hampton Bays died at Westhampton Care Center on Monday, May 2. She was 78.
Ms. Zarro and her husband of 54 years, Michael, resided in Hampton Bays for many years. She was active in the parish at the Roman Catholic Church of St. Rosalie and belonged to the Altar Rosary Society. She and her husband were devoted members of the church.
In addition to her work at St. Rosalie’s, Ms. Zarro devoted her time to her children and their activities, particularly the 4H Club.
She is survived by her husband Michael; her children, Linda Dunckley and her husband Mark of Rocky Point, Janet Zarro, Tony Zarro and Michael Zarro and his companion Maureen Stafford, all of Hampton Bays; grandchildren, Michelle and Stephen Dunckley, Nichole Zarro and Michael J. Zarro Jr.; and a brother, Thomas Lavinio and his wife Joan of North Sea.
She was predeceased by her son, Michael L. Zarro Jr., and brothers, Michael, Joseph and Francis Lavinio.
A parish prayer service was held at the J. Ronald Scott Funeral Home on Thursday, May 5, and members of the Hampton Bays Fire Department paid their respects to the wife of one of their fellow firemen. A funeral Mass was held at the Church of St. Rosalie on Friday, May 6. Interment followed at the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Cemetery in Southampton.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Dominican Sisters Family Health Services, 299 North Highland Avenue, Ossining, NY 10562, and East End Hospice, P.O. Box 1048, Westhampton Beach, NY 11978, would be appreciated by the family.
