Estelle Lillian (Seiser) Roessle, a longtime resident of Southampton, died at home on May 1, 2017. She was 88.
Born in Queens to Joseph and Louise Seiser on April 9, 1929, she was raised in Glendale. In her younger years, she was a gymnast with the Turnverein Club and later worked as a comptometer instructor and a secretary. She married Robert Roessle on April 18, 1954, and they raised their children in Baldwin, where they were active members of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church.
A warm and loving homemaker, survivors said Mrs. Roessle enjoyed cooking for her family and friends, sewing, gardening, playing cards, and reading. She and her family spent 10 summers on Hills Pond in Hampton, New York, before buying a summer home on Little Fresh Pond in Southampton in 1977. After living in California for seven years, the Roessles moved back to Little Fresh Pond in 1985 and then spent their retirement years in both Southampton and Siesta Key, Florida, enjoying the company of family and friends.
Mrs. Roessle is survived by her daughter, Meredith Roessle; her granddaughter, Kaitlin Hamilton and husband Glen; and her grandson, Logan Roessle-Tupper. She was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Bob Roessle; a son, Ronald Robert Roessle; and a grandson, Derek James Roessle-Meerman.
A funeral service will be held at Calverton National Cemetery on Friday, May 12, at 10 a.m. A gathering will follow at Seasons of Southampton. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Brockett Funeral Home in Southampton.
