Excessive Rainfall Leads to Swimming Restrictions at Gin Beach and Old Town Beach

Shortly before noon on Wednesday, the Southampton Village Department of Public Works issued an alert, letting residents and visitors to the area know that swimming is not recommended at Gin Beach and Old Town Beach through Friday.

Due to extensive recent rainfall, the drain pipes for Agawam Lake and Old Town Pond must remain open to mitigate excessive flooding, leading to the swimming restrictions at the beaches while the main drain pipes are flowing into those waters.

William Campos Lopez, 26, of Speonk was arrested on December 8, at 3:40 a.m., by Quogue Village Police charged him with aggravated DWI, a misdemeanor.
