Firefighters Battle Heat To Put Out Flames in Water Mill

Southampton Fire Department firemen enduring a heat index the pushed over 90 degrees on Friday, extinguised a fire in the eaves a home before they spread. Firefighers were called to the Head of Pond Road home at about 2 p.m. on Friday and found smoke emanating from the attic and fascia of the house. The fire was located and extinguished quickly, the SFD communications officer Chris Brenner said. Firemen from the North Sea and Sag Harbor fire departments also responded to the scene, as did Southampton Volunteer Ambulance and Southampton Village Volunteer Ambulance because the hot weather posed a danger to firemen.
