Frances Grodski Kominski
Frances Grodski Kominski of Bridgehampton died at her home on July 7. She was 101.
Mrs. Kominski was born in Poland on January 16, 1911, to Stfania and Boleslaw Grodski. She came to the United States in 1926 after she, her mother and younger sister were released from a war camp in Siberia. Although she and Frank had no biological children of their own, in about 1971, the couple’s nephew, Donald Grodski, came to live with them.
In addition to working on the family farm, Mrs. Kominski cleaned many of the estates in Southampton. She was a longtime parishioner at Our Lady of Poland Church in Southampton, and spent many days, up until her death, at the Senior Center in Bridgehampton.
Besides Donald, who was considered by Mrs. Kominski as her son, she is survived by two sisters, Mary Petraszewski of New Hampshire and Louise Grodski of Southampton. She was predeceased by her husband Frank Kominski in 1989; a brother, Henry; and sisters, Sophie and Virginia.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the O’Connell Funeral Home in Southampton. A funeral Mass was held on July 10 at Our Lady of Poland Roman Catholic Church with interment at Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Cemetery in Southampton.
