Dr. Frank Kevin Mosca of Hampton Bays died at Southampton Hospital on May 16. He was 77.
Dr. Mosca was born on July 15, 1938, in Mount Vernon to Frank and Mary Mosca, both of whom predeceased him. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in the Vietnam War. He graduated from Iona College with a Bachelor of Arts degree, and earned master’s and Ph.D degrees in Slavic studies and Russian literature at New York University. He became a professor of Russian Literature at NYU, then continued his studies and earned his postdoctoral degree in psychology. He married Linda Sue Galardi in 1969.
Dr. Mosca was an accomplished psychotherapist with a passion for using and teaching the principles of the Option Method, a therapeutic self-help approach to cultivating happiness, developed by his mentor and dear friend, the late Bruce Di Marsico. His friends, family and colleagues knew him for his great love of learning and wide interests ranging from philosophy to chaos theory. He had a great sense of humor and a deep love of animals. He was a great reader, writer, educator, speaker and life coach dedicated to the teaching of happiness and well-being. Optimism and hope were just two of his hallmark traits, fully displayed in even his final moments of life, survivors said.
