Gary M. Mott of Sag Harbor and New Hampshire died on October 5. He was 74.
Mr. Mott was born on August 27, 1946 in Sag Harbor. He was a jack of all trades.
After graduating from Pierson High School, he spent six years in the U.S. Navy, before performing carpentry and furniture making, and working at Peerless Marine Work.
Approximately 35 years ago, Mr. Mott and his life partner, Annick Joly (also of Sag Harbor), bought and moved into a 17th century house in Center Tuftonboro, New Hampshire. He proceeded to work room by room for years, rebuilding and renovating the historic house into a museum quality home.
Mr. Mott was very well loved and will be missed, his family said.
In addition to his life partner, Annick, Mr. Mott is survived by his daughter Jennifer and son-in-law Doug; and his four grandchildren in Florida; his siblings Elissa and Timothy; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held at Yardley and Pino Funeral Home in Sag Harbor. He will be interred at Calverton National Cemetery over the holidays.
