George V. Clark of Fort Lauderdale, formerly of East Quogue, died on December 23 at the Ocean View Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility in New Smyrna Beach, Florida. He was 89.
Mr. Clark was a veteran of World War II, serving with the Army Air Corps as a 2nd Lt. pilot in the European Theatre. He worked for the Steamfitters Union Local 638 of New York.
Mr. Clark was predeceased by his first wife, Maxine (Cox), and his second wife, Madeline A. (Gerbath), to whom he was married for 38 years. He was also predeceased by two daughters, Diane Smith and Carol Johnson; and a brother Raymond Clark. He is survived by two sisters, Marie Hartman of Virginia and Marguerite S. Anderson of Florida; a brother Joseph Clark of Bethpage; a son-in-law, William Smith of Rockville Centre; and three grandchildren, Christopher Smith of Albertson, and Bethany and Jennifer Smith of Rockville Centre.
A parish prayer service was held on December 29 at the J. Ronald Scott Funeral Home in Hampton Bays. A funeral Mass was said at the Church of St. Rosalie, also in Hampton Bays, on December 30. Interment was at Calverton National Cemetery with military honors.
