Good Samaritan

I wanted to take the time to thank a Good Samaritan who helped me out this weekend.

This past Saturday, I decided to take my 96-year-old mom out for a ride to feed the ducks. It was a beautiful sunny day; however there still were some icy patches on the ground.

As she was getting into the car from her wheelchair, she lost her footing and slipped. I struggled to lift her up but was unable.

I called my husband on the cellphone to come to my aid. As we waited, my mom was sitting on the cold, wet ground. I continued to struggle but wasn’t getting anywhere.

Before my husband arrived, an angel appeared in a green truck. Without hesitation, he said, “Do you need help?” I was so relieved: “Yes,” I answered. He said, “On the count of three, we will lift her.”

I told him we were going out to feed the ducks and she slipped. He then offered to help me get her in the car — but by this time she was soaking wet.

In all this excitement, I did not ask the young man’s name.

My mom and I would like to express our thankfulness to this kind and thoughtful young man. I cannot thank you enough.
