Illiterate And Immoral

This is the saddest letter to the editor I’ve ever written. Sadder that there is a reason for writing it.

The latest campaign against our elected Southampton mayor is totally an embarrassment to our village, constitution and morals. I am offended that my junk mail has risen to a new high. Creative marketing and advertising is now obviously a thing of the past. Possibly it began with the last election?

Words of hate and lies need to be stopped immediately. Insults and accusations do not win elections. The Long Island Law Enforcement Foundation needs to get a grip on reality. Sounding like a schoolyard bully is not the best image to have. Especially anyone representing law enforcement.

I cannot validate, appreciate or listen to anymore media, including a glossy 12×14 sent in the mail so our kids can see the ignorance on paper. Take me off your mailing list, please. I’ve had enough junk mail.

We do have a constitutional opportunity to voice our intelligent opinions. Yes, I feel Long Island Law Enforcement Foundation is way out of line with their latest campaign against our mayor. I now have no respect for the organization or anything to do with it. Actually, I never heard of it until the last mailing was sent.

Long Island Law Enforcement Foundation should put the funds financing this smear campaign, this hate mail, to journalism lessons, anger management and in the basket at church. This kind of campaign does no good except to make the foundation look very small, illiterate and immoral. Shame on this approach from Long Island law enforcement. Only thing it’s enforcing is poor journalism and lack of professionalism. Shame on you.

Debate face to face? Discuss? Do something to promote your opinions intellectually.
