James R. Holmes
James R. Holmes of East Quogue died at Southampton Hospital on Tuesday, February 28, after battling cancer for several years. He was 58.
Raised in East Quogue, he worked as a printer before a car accident in 1981 resulted in him becoming a quadriplegic.
He is survived by his siblings, Janet Enser and her fiancé Scott Dennison of East Quogue, John Holmes and his wife Pat of East Quogue; nephews, Travis Holmes of East Quogue, and Jason Enser and his wife Pam of Raymondville; and his grandniece, Clarissa Enser of Raymondville.
Before his death, Mr. Holmes asked his sister to thank all of the individuals, specifically the health care professionals, who helped him live post-injury with dignity for 30 years. Although his body was disabled, those who knew him could attest that his spirit was never disabled.
