James N. Riley
James N. Riley of Calverton died on Sunday, May 6, following a brief illness. He was 82.
A decorated Korean War veteran and vice commander of American Legion Post 1887, Mr. Riley will be remembered as a wonderful husband and a devoted father, grandfather and great-grandfather, according to survivors. An avid sports fan, he enjoyed watching the New York Mets, the Boston Bruins and Red Sox, and the New England Patriots. He also was an avid golfer.
Mr. Riley is survived by his wife of 35 years, Annmarie Southard; six daughters, Kathleen Riley Lamb of Oakdale, Karen Riley Montpetit of Westhampton, Lori Soukieh of Florida, and Laura Riley King, Linda Riley Tacchi and Erin Riley Sharpe, all of Massachusetts; a son, James N. Riley II of New Jersey; three sisters, Joan, Doris and Elaine; and a brother, Joseph. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a brother, William.
The family received friends at the Follett & Werner Funeral Home in Westhampton Beach on Thursday, May 10. A Funeral Mass took place on Friday, May 11, at the Church of the Immaculate Conception on Quiogue. Interment followed at Calverton National Cemetery.
