Janet Rita Mazzaraco of Hampton Bays died on February 16, 2017. She was 81.
Ms. Mazzaraco was born in the Bronx, graduated from Evander Childs High School, and held positions at the 3M company and Minnesota Mining. On a rainy day in 1962 she married Joseph Mazzaraco and dedicated the next 54 years as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, survivors said. She was a committed Catholic and attended services religiously. After spending summers in the Hamptons, she and her husband retired in a home built by the family. She spent 13 years working at the Hampton Bays United Artist Theater and volunteered at Birthright. Her favorite pastimes were her weekend getaways to the casino with her husband and holidays with her family.
She was the daughter of the late Samuel Leo and Anna Spaccarelli. She was predeceased by her son, Robert Mazzaraco; and a brother, Richard Leo. She is survived by her husband Joseph Mazzaraco; her children, Jo Anne Vitiello and husband Patrick, Michael Mazzaraco and wife Cheryl, John Mazzaraco and wife Sonia, and Joseph Mazzaraco; a brother, Robert Leo; and grandchildren, Kathryn Vitiello and Sophia Mazzaraco.
A funeral service was held at the Church of St. Rosalie in Hampton Bays on February 21. Burial followed at Good Ground Cemetery in Hampton Bays. Arrangements were under the direction of the Scott Funeral Home in Hampton Bays.
