Joan (Zyckowski) Fucito of Wading River died at her home on November 2, with her family by her side, after a long illness. She was 75.
A 1957 graduate of Southampton High School and a graduate of St. Joseph’s College, she was a special eduction teacher for 20 years at South Street School in the Eastport South Manor School District, retiring in 2004.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Michael; three daughters, Jane McDermott of Florida, Ann Shaw and husband Bill of East Greenbush, and Michele Bookbinder and husband Mark of Connecticut; four grandchildren, Melissa Czumak, Ian and Michael Shaw, and Emma Bookbinder. She is also survived by a sister, Rita Antilety of Stamford; and a brother, Frank Zyckowksi of Southampton.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Alexander Tuthill Funeral Home in Wading River. Cremation was followed by interment at Calverton National Cemetery.
