JoAnn Marie (Osterhage) Oakley died on Sunday, August 25, after battling pancreatic cancer for almost four and a half years. She was 75 and the mother of Dr. Michael S. Oakley of Southampton.
Ms. Oakley was born in East St. Louis, Illinois, on September 30, 1937, to Wilbur and Alice Osterhage. Over the years she had lived in Waterloo, Illinois; Fanwood and Toms River, New Jersey; and, most recently, Port Jefferson Station. In addition to providing a nurturing home for her family, she had worked for Osterhage Construction Company, Zep Manufacturing and Airco Industrial Gases. She earned a bachelor’s degree in 1992 from Kean University.
Predeceased by her parents, she is survived by six children, Susan Daly and husband Dennis, Debbie McGuire and husband Paul, Bob Oakley and wife Magdala, Randy Oakley and wife Barbara, Mike Oakley and wife Patty, and Steve Oakley and wife Maria. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, Julia, Austin, Mark, Mike, Tyler, Patrick, Erin, Kristen, Christian, Joshua, Caraline, Julia and Jacob; two sisters and three brothers, Judy Mathews and husband Joe, Bonnie Wirth and husband John, Bob Osterhage and wife Sharon, Ken Osterhage and wife Debbie, and Keith Osterhage and wife Bonnie, all of Illinois. In addition she is survived by an aunt, Mildred Kerens, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family received friends at Clayton Funeral Home in Kings Park on August 28. A funeral service took place on August 29 at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, also in Kings Park.
