John “Arnold” Coslick of Bridehampton died at Southampton Hospital on July 2, after a brief illness. He was 88.
Mr. Coslick was born on December 15, 1927, to John P. Coslick and Mildred Smith Coslick of School Street in Bridgehampton. He was a lifetime member of Bridgehampton Presbyterian Church, where he served as deacon, elder, trustee, and dedicated choir member. He also served for many years as treasurer for the Suffolk County Electrical Contractors Association. He was an active member of the Bridgehampton Community House, American Legion, and Bridgehampton Food Pantry.
Mr. Coslick graduated from Bridgehampton High School in 1945. He was a member of the Mecox Yacht Club as a teenager and as a young man. In his teenage years, his father trained him as an electrician and he continued this career until the end of his life. He served in the United States Army in Korea and worked as a plane spotter during World War II. In his 20s, he acquired his license to fly planes solo and owned a lightweight Piper J-3 Cub. Throughout his life, he maintained his great love for planes and could identify most passing overhead.
In 1957, he met Audrey Carrigan and they married in 1958.
In addition to his wife Audrey, he is survived by two daughters, Nancy Bennett and husband Alan; and Evelyn Versace; and a granddaughter, Wendy Bennett Chapman and husband Michael; as well as a sister, Gertrude Brown; niece Janice Martinez, nephew Ralph Brown and their families.
