John Joseph Vinski, formerly of Water Mill, died at his home in Jupiter, Florida, on March 16, with his family by his side. He was 84.
Born April 12, 1931, in Water Mill, he was the son of John Vinski and Cecilia F. (Slovonik) Vinski. After graduating high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1948. From 1951 to 52, he was stationed in Korea, eventually earning the rank of technical sergeant. He was honorably discharged in 1956.
Mr. Vinski had many skills. He worked as an aircraft mechanic at Grumman Aerospace and owned JJ Vinski Transport Inc.
He married Carolyn M. Slinn, who survives him, on April 23, 1955, in Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Church in Southampton. They were married for 60 years.
He was active in the Korean War Veterans organization, a lifetime member of the Elks Club, an avid golfer and belonged to the Golf Club of Jupiter.
Mr. Vinski is survived by his children, Deborah Larsen and husband Anthony, Francine Tepper and husband Peter, John E. Vinski and wife Karen, Theodore Vinski and wife Kathleen, Jeffrey Vinski and wife Pamela; grandchildren, Shannan, John, Jennifer, Gregory, Christina, Josh, Melissa, Michael, Rachel, Jack and Savanna; and a sister, Helen J. Vinski.
He was predeceased by a son, Richard James Vinski.
A funeral took place at the Palm Beach National Chapel Funeral Home in Lake Worth, Florida, on March 21.
