Julia Hendrickson Of Hampton Bays Dies August 14

Julia Hendrickson of Hampton Bays, formerly of Southampton, died on August 14 at the Westhampton Care Center. She was 99 and was known to some as “Julie.”

Born July 9, 1917, in Woodhaven, Queens, to William and Minnie Smith, she was one of 10 children. She was an active member of the Southampton Elks Lodge 1574 and was a past president of its Ladies Auxiliary.

Predeceased by her first husband, Charles Everett Miller, and her second husband, Albert Lawrence Hendrickson, she is survived by two sons, Charles E. Miller Sr. and wife Carole of Hampton Bays, and Henry S. Huecker and wife Maryanne of Mattituck; a sister, Bertha Bressingham of Queens; and a former daughter-in-law, Connie Schneider of Hampton Bays.

She is also survived by grandchildren, Kerry Takacs and husband Tristan, Charles Miller Jr., Amy Derby and husband Joseph, Janet Huecker and spouse Diana, Henry Hueker, Julia Lester and husband David; great-grandchildren, Saoirse Takacs, Everett Takacs, Francesca Derby, Ava Derby, Josephine Derby, Adam Lester, Jackson Lester and wife Brandi, Kirby Huecker and Carter Huecker; and two great-great-granddaughters, Chloe Lester and Delilah Lester.

Visiting and Elk Services were on August 17 at the J. Ronald Scott Funeral Home in Hampton Bays. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 18, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home; the Reverend Kent Terchunian of the Hampton Bays United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial will follow at Good Ground Cemetery in Hampton Bays.

Hampton Bays School District residents will be asked to vote for a $67,495,698 budget for the 2025-26 school year on Tuesday, May 20.
