Lillian G. Puzio
Lillian G. Puzio of Flemington, New Jersey, formerly of Yonkers and Hampton Bays, died at Emeritus at Hillsborough in New Jersey on Tuesday, March 20. She was 98.
Born in Yonkers on May 7, 1914, to Michael and Josephine Zawolska Grabowski, she was the oldest of five children and survived her sister, Catherine Senft and three brothers, John, Edward and Joseph Grabowski.
A graduate of the High School of Commerce in Yonkers she had worked as a secretary and typist. She was married on October 29, 1936, to Walter F. Puzio. They had been married 60 years when he predeceased her in 1996.
She and her husband moved to Hampton Bays after his retirement, living there for 30 years. She was a communicant of the Church of St. Mary in Hampton Bays. Ms. Puzio loved to read, enjoyed knitting, playing the piano, walking and baking.
In 2002, she moved to be near her daughter in Flemington, New Jersey, because of illness. Her determination and positive attitude were her hallmarks, family said. She lived in Hillsborough for the past three years.
She is survived by a daughter, Frances P. Smith of New Jersey; granddaughters, Sarah Sajorda of New Jersey, Jennifer Alworth and her husband Christopher of New Jersey; a sister-in-law, Pauline Grabowski of Thornwood; great-grandsons, Kyle and Kaden Sajorda of New Jersey; and many nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by a son-in-law, Dr. Gordon Charles Smith on February 4.
A funeral service took place on Friday, March 23, at the Church of St. Mary in Hampton Bays. Interment will follow at Calverton National Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home in Flemington, New Jersey.
