Maria Victoria Kirsten, formerly of Southampton, died on April 20 in Lennox Head, NSW, Australia. She was 55.
Ms. Kirsten was born on April 15, 1966, in Nassau, Bahamas, where her grandfather was the chief justice. She was brought up in New York City, she graduated from Chapin School, Middlesex Academy, and Georgetown University. She taught at Southampton High School and the Tuckahoe School. She also worked at one time for Gardeneering and Lynch’s in Southampton.
She worked and traveled the world, then married Michael Brown of Australia in Southampton. They moved to Australia, where they lived ever since and have two daughters Sasha (23) and India (21). While there, she became a yoga teacher and trainer with a large following worldwide. She taught in Japan, London, Indonesia and the United States.
She was the most incredible human being and dedicated mother to her girls, her family said, notign that she loved so deeply and touched so many people’s lives with her wisdom, her humor, her intellect, her friendship and her smile. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her, her family said.
The beloved daughter of Victoria and the late Joachim Kirsten, she is survived by her husband; their two daughters; her two brothers Robert and Charles Kirsten; her half-brother Chris Kirsten; her half-sister Michelle Krepak; as well as her mother Victoria Campbell Kirsten.
