Marie Eckart
Marie Eckart of Westhampton Beach died at Peconic Bay Medical Center on Tuesday, April 5. She was 88.
Mrs. Eckart was born in Calverton on August 12, 1922. She worked for many years as a cashier at the A&P supermarket in Westhampton Beach. Mrs. Eckart enjoyed working outside in her yard, said survivors, who added that her six grandchildren were her life. She will be deeply missed by her friends and family and she will always be in their hearts, they said.
She is survived by her children, Marie and Michael Rapino of Farmingville, and Linda Eckart Sabo of Westhampton Beach; grandchildren, Brian Rapino of Manahattan, Jason and Jessica Rapino of Farmingville, Matthew Eckart and Kevin Sabo of Westhampton Beach, and Christian Eckart of Hampton Bays; great-grandson, Jackson Eckart of Hampton Bays; two sisters-in-law, Shirley Eckart and Alice McBride; and great-granddaughter-in-law, Shavonne Eckart. She was predeceased by her husband, Wilson Eckart; and two sons, Terrance and Thomas Eckart.
The family received friends on Thursday, April 7, at the Follett and Werner Funeral Home in Westhampton Beach. A funeral Mass was held at the Immaculate Conception Church in Westhampton Beach on Friday, April 8. Interment followed at the Westhampton Cemetery. Pallbearers were Brian and Jason Rapino, Matthew Eckart, Kevin Sabo, Justin Jones, and Raymond McClaim.
