Marie Hansen Doyle Dies At 80

Marie “Re” Hansen Doyle of Westhampton died Thursday, March 31. She was 80.

Ms. Doyle was born in Greenport on October 30, 1930, to Jack Hansen and Nellie Norkelun. She worked for New York Telephone Company prior to her marriage to Jim Doyle and worked a variety of jobs through the years, including preschool organizer, Mary Kay consultant, realtor, and title closer.

The Doyles celebrated their 45th anniversary in October 2010.

She was a dedicated advocate for the West Lake of Westhampton Association and other community causes, and a strong supporter of her husband throughout his years with the Westhampton Beach Police Department.

Like her mother before her she taught everyone to love one another, survivors said.

She is survived by her husband Jim Doyle; daughter, Maya Doyle and her husband Jason Schreiber of Manhattan; sisters, Jackie Monsell and Margaret Grilli of Greenport; grandson, Torben; several generations of nieces and nephews; and many friends. She was predeceased by her sister, Esther King.

Visitation took place Saturday and Sunday, April 2 and 3, at Follett & Werner Funeral Home. A memorial service was held at the funeral home Monday, April 4; the Rev. Charles Cary officiated. Interment followed at Westhampton Cemetery.

Memorial donations made to the Westhampton War Memorial Ambulance Association, 3 Hazelwood Avenue, Westhampton Beach, NY 11978-1403 would be appreciated by the family.
