I don’t usually read Jim Marquardt’s articles, because, although he researches his topics, they feel devoid of any real Sag Harbor connection. It might be history, but it lacks the warmth of our village.
I happened to see the article on the Cillis’ farm [“When Cows Grazed In Sag Harbor,” Looking Back, Residence, November 26] and found it a missed opportunity for the paper. How much better it could have been had it been written by someone who actually remembers getting milk delivered to their houses by the Cillis.
You would leave your back door open, the empty cleaned milk bottles waiting on the stoop; Dominick or John would go to the refrigerator, assess what you would need and leave it. They were an amazing part of Sag Harbor.
